Protecting the Crawl Space

The crawl space of this Clarksville Tennessee home was showing signs of failure. What looked like settlement issues were really effects of wood rot in the crawl space. The moisture below the home had allowed for mold and mildew to grow on the floor joists. They were able to feed on the wood causing it to rot and weaken the structure. Encapsulating and waterproofing the crawl space and adding a dehumidifier was the permanent solution to protect this family's home.

Healthy Crawl Space in Clarksville

This homeowner has only gone in the crawl space once in the 4 years of living there. The floors are cold in the winter and lately they have noticed some buckling in the floors. The family was interested in Preventing mold, wood rot, and any odors that come along with those things. Once the crawl space was healthy they could work to finish the floors.

Encapsulating the crawl space and controlling the environment below the living space was the perfect permanent solution for this home. Humidity controlled mold and rot will not be an issue. And the humidity will no longer damage the wood floors above.

Concrete Fix and Protect Clarksville TN

The cracks of this Clarksville driveway have continued to get worse over the past 3 years.

It was important to the homeowner to get those fixed, keeping them from getting worse or becoming trip hazards.

A little bit of PolyLevel foam injection was able to lift and level the areas that had dropped.

NexusPro joint sealant seals the cracks protecting it from moisture that would cause more damage.

Faux vs True Encapsulation

This home was "encapsulated" 5 years ago by another company.

However it was not a true encapsulation, it only had a thin plastic liner rolled out along the dirt floor and partially up the block.

Because this plastic did not control the humidity of this space, and during some seasons make the humidity worse, the family had noticed their floors above were warping.

This faux encapsulation had caused additional problems for the home.

A true encapsulation will completely seal the home from outside air.

Our vapor barrier, CleanSpace, is a 20 mil plastic that covers the earth and runs up the block. Vents are closed and insulated, all joist and any other areas air can flow are sealed with foam.

A non-organic custom insulated crawl space door closes the space off finishing off the encapsulation.

The home's floors are now protected from the heat and moisture that are necessary for warping.
