Frontier Foundation’s service technician visited the home to inspect previously installed Smart Jacks and found that the dehumidifier needed replacement and the crawl space entrance required a new EverLast Door.
During the inspection, he also identified significant moisture-related issues, including joist and subfloor mold growth, unsealed vapor barrier seams, exposed foundation walls, and signs of pests.
To resolve these problems, the crew removed debris and insulation, applied Mold-X2 treatments, and installed a fully sealed CleanSpace system with drainage matting. They also added RimTite spray-foam joist insulation for improved protection and efficiency. A new EverLast Door and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier were installed to ensure long-term moisture control and reliable system performance.
This Tennessee family knew upon moving into their home that they needed to get their crawl space properly encapsulated before any serious foundation issues occurred.
Their crawl space was "encapsulated" but it was a thin material that wasn't sealed correctly, so it wasn't helping seal out the moisture that the soil ground was full of.
They called Frontier and set up a free appointment for an inspection. After our inspector looked around, he discussed with them what he found. The moisture level in their wood supporting joists was getting to the level that most start to see decay appearing. He was glad they called now instead of waiting a few months, because by then they could be experiencing bouncy floors and serious mold growth.
Our inspector talked to the family about how our encapsulation works and what products we use and they were hooked.
Our crew installed these products:
CleanSpace Liner- 20mil thick material that reduces moisture and vapor in the crawl space
Drainage Matting- goes under the liner to become a channel for trapped water to find its way to the designated drain
TripleSafe Sump Pump- has three pumps that automatically change upon need.
EverLast Door- a nearly indestructible door that has an air and moisture tight seal
LawnScape Outlet- has a removable top for easy cleaning and is green to better match your yard
IceGuard- has a perforated top to ensure your space will not flood if your discharge lines become frozen
The family now has a dry and healthy crawl space!
The original door was not a vapor barrier, the new door, IS!
The answer is, we shouldn't. That is why we encapsulate the crawl space and cover the vents and doors with air tight doors and vent covers.
Most crawl space doors are made from wood or metal that rust, rot, and fall apart over time, allowing moisture, humid air, and unwanted pests to enter your home, causing deterioration to the foundation. Our crawl space entry doors are made from a non-organic plastic that has an airtight seal. This door will not rust, rot, or deteriorate, keeping moisture, humidity, and pests OUT of your home!
