Symptom of Foundation Settlement
This stair-stepping crack alerted the homeowner to possible foundation problems. The brick was also separating underneath the vertical block line.
Water Line
Before beginning a project, homeowners should contact their local utility company to have underground utility lines marked. This helps prevent accidental damage during repair and keeps the project safe and on schedule.
Exposing Footing
The crew digs down to expose the home's footing so the pier can be installed as close to the foundation as possible for proper support and stability.
Setting Up To Drive
Frontier uses a mini-excavator to spin the pier into the soil like a screw, applying steady pressure so it can advance and cut into the ground until it reaches stable, load-bearing soil.
Pier Brackets
Once the appropriate depth is reached, a steel bracket is attached to the pier. These brackets transfer the weight of the structure from the concrete footing, through the pier system, and down to the stronger, load-bearing soil below.
Lifting the Home
Hydraulic jacks carefully lift the bracket and footing, raising the home back toward a more level position in a controlled and measured process.
Finished Project
Once the home is lifted and permanently supported, the piers are backfilled and covered. The homeowner can reseed the lawn, and it will look like nothing ever happened, but underneath, the foundation is now stable and secure.
