Crawl Space During Inspection
Moisture, mold and falling, failing insulation are problems in this crawl space, which hasn't been properly sealed. The encapsulation treatment totally separates and protects the crawl space interior from outdoor conditions, keeping the space clean and dry.
Moisture Damage
Moisture is visible in the water lines on the bottom of the concrete block wall as well as under the vapor barrier. The problem has become so bad that the wall is starting to separate. If this issue is not addressed, wall failure will become a problem, leading to even more costly repairs.
Mold Growth
Mold is growing all over this crawl space due to a high level of humidity and plenty of organic material to feed on, like the insulation and wooden floor joists.
Mold on Floor Joists
Mold can be seen on the wood floor joists and growing in the insulation of this crawl space. When wood is in a humid environment, it absorbs moisture from the air. When the moisture content in the wood is elevated for long time, mold grows. Active mold in your crawl space produces airborne spores that are circulated through the house into the living areas.
After Soda Blasting Mold
Sodium Bicarbonate is a granular powder that is non-toxic, food grade, with no vapors or offgassing. It is blown with air at high pressure at the infected lumber. The mold is blown off without damaging the lumber, and falls to the floor. The mold is killed by the blasting action and the soda instantly changes the ph, so what falls is not active mold, but simply inert dust.

After soda blasting the lumber looks almost like new. The mold and it's negative effects are gone. And with the CleanSpace system and Sedona dehumidification system the conditions for mold to grow will not return.
