Tad in Nashville, TN, contacted Frontier about moisture in his crawl space. During the inspection, the design specialist found elevated humidity and mold growth on the floor joists. An existing support jack was also not properly supporting the floor above. To address the issues, the Frontier crew replaced the existing support with a SmartJack and soda blasted the floor joists to remove mold. Drainage Matting was installed along the floor, followed by a CleanSpace liner to encapsulate the crawl space and help protect against moisture. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was added to control humidity long term, and the existing crawl space door was replaced with an EverLast door to help seal the space from outside air.

Mold Growth

Mold was growing on floor joists, weakening the support of the home over time.

Relative Humidity Levels

Relative Humidity was over 60% in the crawl space. Mold can grow in this environment and pests are attracted to the moist space.

Humidity Control

Since relative humidity was over 60%, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is installed to remove moisture from the air.

Soda Blasting Mold Removal

Soda blasting removes mold at the root and prevents it from growing on floor joists and boards.

Drainage Matting

Drainage matting allows water to flow beneath CleanSpace liner so it does not create pockets and wash out supports.

CleanSpace is installed on walls first so a perfect seal can be created between the floor and walls.

This SmartJack is better equipped to support the floor and can be adjusted over time in case of future settlement.

Dehumidifier Drainage

The dehumidifier drains moisture through a small tube connected to the home's overall drainage system.

Inside EverLast Door

The crawl space opening was in the floor of the home. The EverLast door creates a seal and prevents air under the home from travelling upwards.
