Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Russellville, KY

A customer in Russellville, KY, called Frontier due to moisture issues in their crawl space. To mitigate the issues, we completed a crawl space encapsulation. This process began with the installation of our StarPipe crawl space drainage system, followed by the addition of drainage matting, a CleanSpace liner, sealing of the crawl space vents, and the installation of our TripleSafe sump pump and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. We finished this project by installing an IceGuard and LawnScape drainage system.

Crawl Space During Inspection

During the inspection we can see the old vapor barrier that is installed is not helping to prevent any moisture from entering the crawl space.

Water Damage

Water damage is present, as you can see in the photo standing water is present around the crawl space perimeter. Lot's of water, which can cause not only musty smells but structural damage to the entire structure including mold, and wood rot of the floor joists and subfloor.

Crawl Space Debris

All of this debris will have to be cleaned up and hauled out of the crawl space before we can start this project.

Drainage matting forms a permanent seal for leaking crawl space floors.

Sump Pump Installation

Our most reliable sump pump system, the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System, provides three levels of protection for your basement and your peace of mind. For normal functioning, the TripleSafe™ has a powerful, cast-iron Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower sump pump set at the lowest level. For heavy volumes of water or in case of primary pump failure, a second, more powerful Zoeller® ½ hp pump set a bit higher in the liner will take over.

CleanSpace Installed

One key ingredient in our encapsulation system is the CleanSpace® vapor barrier, a super-durable 20-mil plastic sheet designed to permanently prevent moisture, outside air, and pests from entering your crawl space.

A TripleSafe® Sump Pump System (shown here), combined with a SaniDry® dehumidifier, represents the ultimate in crawl space waterproofing and humidity control.

The SaniDry Sedona

Mold and mildew are common in crawl spaces, but the Sedona keeps the relative humidity below 55%, so mold won't stand a chance. As a high-efficiency dehumidifier, the Sedona removes more moisture (100 pints per day) for less electricity cost than conventional models.

IceGuard System

Water escapes from the IceGuard® fitting only when the discharge line becomes clogged. Otherwise, water flows past the slotted openings into the drain pipe.

LawnScape Installed

LawnScape™ is a pipe buried from the downspout to a special LawnScape™ outlet that lets the water out onto the surface while camouflaging the end of the pipe. The lid comes off for easy cleaning. LawnScape™ is best used for downspout extensions over 8' long.
