Mold Issues
Much like the basement, the nature of your crawl space lends itself to moisture issues and mildew growth. Crawl spaces are dark and often damp due to moisture from the ground or other causes. Mold forms essentially wherever oxygen and moisture are present, so it's no surprise that crawl spaces can become a breeding ground for mold.
Mold on Floor Joists
Mold can be found in nearly every place where oxygen and moisture are present, both in nature and beyond. Your crawl space is the perfect environment for mold growth since it is surrounded by wet soil. With a significant number of homes in the United States having a vented crawl space, it is not uncommon for homeowners to find mold in their crawl space.
More Mold Growth
Mold in your crawl space can have a number of negative effects on your entire home. Not only can mold in your crawl space lead to wood rot, resulting in structural damage, but it also impacts your indoor air quality, leading to poor health outcomes for you and your family. This includes sneezing, coughing, wheezing, burning eyes, stuffy nose, skin rash, and more.
After Soda Blasting
Sodium Bicarbonate is a granular powder that is non-toxic, food grade, with no vapors or offgassing. It is blown with air at high pressure at the infected lumber. The mold is blown off without damaging the lumber, and falls to the floor. The mold is killed by the blasting action and the soda instantly changes the ph, so what falls is not active mold, but simply inert dust.
Drainage Matting Installed
Drainage matting forms a permanent seal for leaking crawl space floors.
CleanSpace Installed
One key ingredient in our encapsulation system is the CleanSpace® vapor barrier, a super-durable 20-mil plastic sheet designed to permanently prevent moisture, outside air, and pests from entering your crawl space.
RimTight Insulation Spray
RimTight is an insulation system used for sealing the rim joists of a home, exclusively offered by authorized Basement Systems dealers. The system uses materials like spray foam to prevent air leakage and moisture problems at the perimeter of a home's floor system.
Piers Wrapped
Piers are wrapped in CleanSpace® poly to create a continuous air and moisture barrier.
The SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier
Mold and mildew are common in crawl spaces, but the Sedona keeps the relative humidity below 55%, so mold won't stand a chance. As a high-efficiency dehumidifier, the Sedona removes more moisture (100 pints per day) for less electricity cost than conventional models.
Crawl Space Sealed
Crawl space sealing and insulation will help you avoid unnecessary repairs, create a healthier living space, and save money on your utility bills. And once you've encapsulated your crawl space with a vapor barrier, you've gained valuable storage space in your home.
