Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Nolensville, TN

Richard in Nolensville, TN, contacted Frontier after noticing humidity issues in his crawl space, where he had been storing belongings. An existing vapor barrier was in place, but it wasn't keeping up with the moisture. During the inspection, the design specialist found insulation that had fallen from the joists, a sign that excess humidity had been affecting the space. To address the problem, the Frontier crew removed the old vapor barrier and encapsulated the space with Drainage Matting and a CleanSpace liner to isolate it from ground moisture. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was also installed to manage long-term humidity and help protect the belongings stored in the space.

Crawl Space Door

This crawl space door is not sealed, allowing air to enter the space and contribute to humidity. Frontier generally recommends installing an EverLast door that fully seals the space form outside air.

Falling Insulation

In crawl spaces with high humidity, insulation absorbs moisture from the air and falls out of place. This indicates a need for better moisture management.

Debris Removal

To begin the project, the Frontier crew gathers and disposes of the old vapor barrier.

Drainage Matting

Drainage matting is installed underneath the CleanSpace liner to allow water to move laterally underneath the system.

Open vents allow outside air to enter the space and raise humidity under the home. We seal the vents with SilverGlo insulation panels and RimTite insulation
