Relative Humidity
Relative humidity was over 66%, over the recommended limit of 60% that cultivates mold and encourages pests.
Mold Growth
High humidity in the crawl space facilitated mold growth on floor boards and floor joists.
Ineffective Insulation
Traditional crawl space insulation can absorb moisture from the air, holding dampness against the floor system and creating conditions that allow mold growth to spread. As the insulation becomes saturated, it can also grow heavy and begin falling from between the floor joists.
Soda Blasting
The team used soda blasting to remove mold from floor joists and floor boards. Soda blasting removes mold at the root and prevents regrowth.
Drainage System and SilverGlo Panels
A drainage system was installed to capture water entering the space and direct it toward the sump pump system. The existing insulation was replaced with SilverGlo insulation panels, which do not absorb moisture like traditional insulation and help improve energy efficiency in the crawl space.
Drainage Matting
Drainage matting is installed underneath CleanSpace liner to allow water to move towards the drainage system.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
The drainage system empties into the sump pump, which pumps the water out of the home. The battery backup ensures the pump continues to run during a power outage.
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier
The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to control humidity long-term and keep RH under 60%.
Discharge Line
The water exits the house through an IceGuard, which ensures the pump continues to work if there is a blockage. The line ends with a LawnScape outlet, which is placed downhill from the home.
Electrical Work
Frontier employs licensed electricians who ensure equipment like sump pumps and dehumidifiers have proper power underneath the home.
