Lou in Nashville, TN, called Frontier because of falling insulation in her crawl space. Our design specialist found a humid environment where mold was growing and cracks in the crawl space wall. To begin, the foundation crew used four push piers to lift the side of the home that was sinking. Insulation and debris were then removed from the space by the crawl space crew. They then encapsulated the space with CleanSpace Drainage Matting and a CleanSpace high-performance 20-mil liner. A TripleSafe Complete pump system and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier were installed to ensure the space stays dry. The water from the pump is directed through an IceGuard and out a LawnScape Outlet to keep water from returning to the crawl space.

Relative Humidity

This crawl space had a relative humidity of 68.5%. This is well above the 60% threshold where mold can thrive.

Inefficient Shims

Sinking supports led to temporary wood shims being used to stabilize the support columns. Frontier will provide a long-term solution to properly support the home.

Mold on Floor Joists

Due to the humid environment, mold was growing on the floor joists.

Stair-Stepping Crack

The crawl space wall had a stair-stepping crack. This indicates foundation settlement.

The first step to encapsulation is installing drainage matting. The matting ensures groundwater can move towards the sump pump.

Installing the TripleSafe sump pump

Frontier's field technician is installing the generator for the sump pump. The generator ensures the pump will continue to run in a power outage.

CleanSpace Liner

The liner Frontier Foundation uses for crawl space encapsulation is 20 mil thick, designed to resist tears even when homeowners or technicians need to move across it.
