Katherine in Nashville, TN, called Frontier to inspect her crawl space during a period of heavy rain. The home was built in 1901, and the rain had damaged the foundation. When the design specialist examined the home, they found a makeshift support in the crawl space that was not adequately bracing the home. The lower part of the crawl space had a relative humidity of 87%, whereas the upper part, with a vapor barrier, had a relative humidity of 56%. The crew installed a drainage system around the higher-graded side of the home that drains into a sump pump at the lowest point of the crawl space. The sump pump discharges water through an IceGuard and out through a An HSS Supplemental Beam with smart jacks was installed to ensure stability for the home. The team encapsulated the crawl space with CleanSpace drainage matting and a 20 mil moisture barrier to prevent groundwater from evaporating into the space. To eliminate humidity, a SaniDry Sedona was installed.

The crew removed concrete from the crawl space floor. The HSS Supplemental Beams will be secured in new concrete.

Drainage System

Due to the home being on a slope, a drainage system was installed on the side of the house with the highest grade. Any water that pushes into the crawl space can be caught and removed by the system.

The crew installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to eliminate humidity from the crawl space and protect the floor beams from mold.

CleanSpace Drainage Matting

CleanSpace drainage matting is installed to direct pooling groundwater toward the sump pump for removal.

TripleSafe Sump Pump

The TripleSafe sump pump is removing water that collects under the drainage matting and in the installed drainage system. A generator is attached so water is still pumped out in the event of a power outage.
