Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Clarksville, TN

This customer in Clarksville, TN, called Frontier due to moisture issues in their crawl space. To mitigate the moisture issues, we completed a complete crawl space encapsulation. This began with cleaning out all the debris, adding our StarPipe crawl space drainage system, installing drainage matting, a CleanSpace liner, a TripleSafe sump pump, and a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. We finished this project by installing an IceGuard and LawnScape drainage system and a new EverLast crawl space door.

Crawl Space During Inspection

This crawl space is showing obvious signs of water damage. The pooling water on the vapor barrier, dripping insulation, and water lines on the concrete block wall, where water is seeping out.

StarPipe™

StarPipe™ is a custom-engineered drainage system for crawlspaces. StarPipe's™ custom design has slots on each side, providing a drainage track on the bottom. StarPipe's™ unique star shape holds the fabric sleeve in place to prevent dirt from entering drainage slots.

StarPipe™ Design

StarPipe™ is designed to be an easily installed conduit to accept water from the soil and surface of perimeter walls of your crawlspace and drain to a sump system, allowing the water to quickly evacuate from the crawlspace or from under the crawl space floor.

Crawl Space Drainage

The StarPipe is installed and connected to the sump pump. It will absorb groundwater and drain it into the sump pump, which in turn will pump the water out of the crawl space.

Drainage Matting Installed and Piers Wrapped

Drainage matting is installed over the crawl space floor. This dimpled plastic sheet material promotes good drainage over the entire crawl space floor. Piers are wrapped in CleanSpace® poly to create a continuous air and moisture barrier.

Vents Sealed

The vents are sealed with SilverGlo panels and CleanSpace is installed on the crawl space walls. Sealing your crawl space vents stops the cycle of cold, humidity, and moisture entering from the outside air.

CleanSpace Vapor Barrier

One key ingredient in our encapsulation system is the CleanSpace® vapor barrier, a super-durable 20-mil plastic sheet designed to permanently prevent moisture, outside air, and pests from entering your crawl space.

Leaks Sealed and Extra Insulation Installed

Any air leaks are sealed with spray foam insulation, and RimTite Joist Insulation Spray Foam is sprayed where the wet insulation was removed for an added layer of insulation.

A TripleSafe® Sump Pump System (shown here), combined with a SaniDry® dehumidifier, represents the ultimate in crawl space waterproofing and humidity control.
