Frontier Basement Systems is certified "green" by Clarksville-Montgomery County

Frontier Basement Systems recently became a member of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program, aimed at creating a more environmentally-conscious community. County Mayor Carolyn Bowers attended the “green” ribbon cutting ceremony.

Bowers took time to talk with Frontier’s Layne and Judy Gebers about some of the initiatives they have taken to become a “greener” company.

“Within the office we began recycling, using electronic communications over paper whenever possible, eliminated Styrofoam for reusable cups, and adjusting our thermostats,” Judy explained. “In addition we recycle whatever old materials we can that are taken from a home or business and we now use digital cameras to take photos of before and after projects to email their clients.”

Layne also shared information about the company’s latest expansion. Frontier Basement Systems recently joined the Dr. Energy Saver network of energy experts. They specialize in energy-saving solutions and help homeowners to discover how their home is using, losing and wasting energy.

Bowers asked members of the Frontier team if they were taking some of the same energy-saving measures at home as they were at work, and everyone said that they are now much more energy-conscious at home and are doing something to reduce energy consumption or be more environmentally-friendly.  

“Thank you for your work at your own place of business and for helping others in the community save on energy through your services,” said Bowers. 

Launched in March 2011, the Green Certification Program was designed to help businesses learn and implement best practices in environmental awareness to increase sustainability of the community’s resources.
